Journey in Joplin Day 1

Helping out with Extreme Makeover is a dream come true for  all the interior design students from Stephens College who are in Joplin to help out the families in need.  Those here right now include me (Erica Gaw), Amber Miller, Aubrey Miller, Melissa Fredericks, Sarah Frost, Stephanie Hall, Vicki Wren and Shelly Vincent-Masek and Architect/part-time installer Gerald Morgan.
What has been happening so far?  Yesterday part of our group arrived in Joplin at ten or ten-thirty after a long four hour trip.  They were able to go on the work site and everything was lit up and the contractors and volunteers had been working non-stop 24/7.  When they arrived most of the exterior walls were framed and making good progress on the roof and were also doing some roof sheathing, that way they could install shingles today.
As for today Vicki, Shelly, Stephanie, Sarah and Gerald all got to meet with the Extreme Makeover producers at noon and were in that meeting for about three hours finding out about the projects we all get to work on.  They received a tour of the two houses our team will be working on, and loaded two vehicles full of fabric!
How about Ty Pennington? Well Melissa, Amber, Aubrey and I did not get to see him however the rest of the crew got to have their photo taken with him and Vicki and Gerald got to see Paul and Paige walking to the Extreme Makeover Bus!
